HiJack Request: CLIP display

HiJack Request: CLIP display - 19/03/2002 13:33

Would it be possible on the Auxilliary in to have the unit flash the word "clip" when the Aux input level was too high? Maybe in the bottom next to the title? I'm not keen on programming at all, but it would be pretty useful.

No one has any input on this at all? Maybe I didn't explain it well? *sigh*

Well, I *thought* it was a good idea.

Is it a bad idea?

I think it's a good idea, too. But it's possible that Mark might not read this forum (not sure?).

Normally, I would give you a hard time for doing a cross-post, but in this case, you are welcome to ask the question in the Programming forum.

Mark indicated over in Programming that he was doing Real Work (tm) this week and as such would be sparsely visiting the BBS. Money talks, bullshit walks.

Tony, could you just move this thread for me?

I rarely read this forum, except when REALLY bored .

But this sounds like a useful feature for somebody else to implement. Thus far I have mostly avoided tweaking with the audio stream, and I'd like to keep it that way!

For Aux, the audio data is not directly available, it has to be resampled back from the other (?) chip. This is how visuals work for Tuner/Aux: they resample the data.

Big job.

Real work must be weighing in if you're taking to this group then...

Instead of this being a Hijack Wish, why not have it be a Player Software wish? Since they're already doing the resampling, it would be a lot easier for them to detect a clip and show a visual que. Of course it would be a post-2.0 feature more than likely...
