Not really possible: USB hammers the system with interrupt loading, music tends to break up during a sync (hence why the music stops)

I guessed as much, to be honest; it was a bit of a whimsical question, really.
How about if the unit continues playing when it detects that it is downloading via *serial*, then, or are there similar issues?

There are similar issues: the RX fifo isn't huge on serial and it can drop bytes when under heavy load.
