Bright line on right side of display?

I saw a bright line running down the right side of the display today. A reboot made it go away.

I remember hearing that this was a known bug. Refresh my memory: What causes this, and is it dangerous?

It's a bug in the display PIC code, and it's not dangerous. The last column just gets two column times without blanking.

Correct, we can't repogram the PICs via software updates :)

It would in theory be possible with the pic on the display board with the right wiring, but it's just not worth it (that ones has flash program storage). The rev2 just has PROM-based ones which can't be reflashed.
