Hulahoop reboot - 04/04/2000 16:08

Has anyone else had a problem with the hula hoop vis.? A few intermittent times the display will restart (warm boot?) shortly after it is turned on. It will play the first few seconds then restart then be OK.
It only happens on hula hoops.

I reported the same problem here using beta 10. Were you running beta 10a?

Yes, I have seen this happen several times, right after installing 10a. And I assume now, I'm not sure. It seems to be more common shortly after a cold boot...I've had my unit asleep for a while and it hasn't happened for a while. But I don't stay on HHoops all the time.

I've experienced this bug with 10a.

It happened when starting a NEW playlist with hula hoops. If I switch into hula hoops while a song is playing, it is fine.

I haven't researched this carefully, but I may have inadvertently created some MP3 files that reliably induce the Hula Hoop reboot bug.

Try playing this file and see if it makes Hula Hoops reboot your Empeg.

When I tried it, it got the Empeg to reboot so many times that it reset the volume to silence and deactivated shuffle-play. I assume that's what happens when Emma has trouble saving its state to NVRAM?

Yep, a reset of the NVRAM is automatically performed if the player reboots lots in a short time (due to the player crashing for one reason or another).

Toby's currently out of the country, but now we have a file which reliably shows the hulahoop bug, I would expect it'll be fixed pretty soon after he comes back.
