DHCP on MkII

On a side note, it doesn't appear that the DHCP on the MkII is behaving properly.

For example, here is a typical interchange between my windows box and my DHCP server:

Jul 3 22:52:13 minbar dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 00:40:d0:01:d9:08 via eth1
Jul 3 22:52:14 minbar dhcpd: DHCPOFFER on 10.200.1.2 to 00:40:d0:01:d9:08 via eth1
Jul 3 22:52:14 minbar dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 10.200.1.2 from 00:40:d0:01:d9:08 via eth1
Jul 3 22:52:14 minbar dhcpd: DHCPACK on 10.200.1.2 to 00:40:d0:01:d9:08 via eth1

Whereas the Empeg only does:

Jul 3 22:53:01 minbar dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 255.255.255.255 from 00:02:d7:0c:00:19 via eth1

It's not doing the DISCOVER phase... networking folks tell me that this may "work great" on an NT DHCP server, but completely bones the spec.

Thoughts?

While preparing my mind and technic for the arrival of the Mk2 -
I don't have a DHCP-Server (well - I could setup one but would prefer another solution).

How could I give a special IP address / Gateway / Subnetmask to the Mk2? Is there a possibility to configure it?

The emplode software with the Mk II has an option which allows you to choose either a DHCP server to obtain an IP address or to manually configure the address, the subnet mask and the gateway.

The DHCP in 11c isn't finished - it's a DHCP thread from one of our other products which actually DHCP boots, and so only needs to renew the lease.

Peter has addressed this already, hopefully a version with proper DHCP will be about in the next day or two.

Well, I'm glad I could brighten up peoples' mornings.

That's actually a popular phrase where I work, a la "What your doing bones the spec, and if it bones the spec and breaks for 1% of the people, that's still about a million people a day, so shut the hell up and fix it."
