Sync problems

OK, this is kicking my butt -

It's been a few days since my last sync attempt (which worked fine, BTW), and when I tried to sync this afternoon, I got this:

The synchronisation process failed during stage 2:
Error 0xfffffff8

I looked at some of the other posts, and ran fsck to see if it would fix it, but, it still isn't working. Of course, I may not have done it correctly, but if I run it a second time, it says it's clean, so I'm guessing I did it right?

Any suggestions?

Oh - and BTW - I'm running 1.0 developer.

Thanks.

OK - Nevermind. I reloaded 1.0 and it fixed whatever the problem was. Guess I messed something up playing around. Oh well, gotta learn somehow...

This appears to be due to making /etc/mtab a symlink to /proc/mounts. Apparently this is being described as a good thing to do somewhere. This may be true in some contexts but it breaks fsck and synchronisation so is not a good plan if you intend to use emptool or emplode.

I may not be speaking on behalf of empeg above :-)
