menu navigation bug - 24/10/2000 01:29

Hi,

I have a playlist that contains the following sub-lists: Hair, Pink Floyd, The Doors, The London Philharmonic Orchestra (really, I do). Let's say I currently have Hair highlighted. I do the following: press the right button on the player, quickly followed by the bottom button (obviously expecting to enter the Pink Floyd playlist). Here is what actually happens:

1. Hair stops being highlighted and the menu starts shifting to the right.
2. Before it fully reaches Pink Floyd, it enters Hair.
3. The original playlist moves one level up and is now partially obscured by the new playlist, but continues to shift until it reaches Pink Floyd.
4. If I now press the top button, I end up with Pink Floyd highlighted.

In a sense, both button presses got handled in parallel. Not what I intended, though...

Here is a screen capture of this behaviour (forgot to make it loop, so you'll have to refresh the page if you want to see it again):

You've got to be a real fast eddy to reconstruct this behaviour...

Yup, although it's easier if you have long playlist names.

Unfortunately, he can't claim it. Zander (n6mod) showed it to us when he was in the office last week. Sorry.

Aw, and he went to all that trouble to make that really neat animated GIF file.

Still, he gets an "E" for effort, right?

Thanks, Tony. But you see why I want a published list of known bugs. I know and agree with the arguments against doing the same with planned features, but it seems to me that they don't apply to the bug list, since most bugs get published on this BBS anyway.
