Re: Visual Mode Forced - 08/02/2002 18:34

I don't even really use the visuals, so I have mine set to ``Off'', and it still comes up in Transient mode, but only on AC. Comes up in Track mode in the car (DC), which is what I want.

Confirmed here.

If we're not going to get an update for another few weeks, we should ask Mark to put a temporary "force" for AC mode.

Yeah, that new feature is annoying as hell, and I've gone back to Wednesdays beta10 instead, cuz I can't stand it.

Rob?? Can you put out a beta12 ASAP with just that one feature fixed?? Otherwise, I doubt that beta11 will get much of a work-out from people.

I'll second that. I've already gone back to beta7 because of the problem. It's amazing how annoying just one simple piece of functionality can be......

Re: Visual Mode Forced - 09/02/2002 07:25

I need some help from everyone with this.

Basically, I need people to go through all of the combinations of visual on/off and the various INFO modes, in both car/home, and verify that this sucker screws up the same way every time.

That is, does it always (under all conditions) power up to Transient in AC/Home mode, and does it always hit Track info in DC/Car mode?

If more than a couple of people can test/confirm this, then I might reload beta11 and implement a Hijack workaround of some kind for it. In the interim, I suppose the Hijack "Initial=" ir_translate sequence could be used as a static workaround.

Cheers

Re: Visual Mode Forced - 09/02/2002 07:42

On one of my empegs it didnt go to transient right away, after the upgrade it was stuck to "info: off".
I tried switching it to every different info option and rebooting.
It always came back to "off" except one time when it came back as "transient". I monkeyed around with it some more, and eventually got it stuck back on Off.
I then went back to b7.
On my other empeg (10GB) after the upgrade it was indeed stuck on transient. I did the same switching, but couldnt get it to change to anything other than transient.

All this was with Visuals mode off.

I'm going to leave it for a week while folks nag Rob about it.

Re: Visual Mode Forced - 10/02/2002 13:12

Other folks have claimed that there is explicitly no difference between b10 and b11 besides a naming difference for external release. Your post would say that that's not true. Clarification?

Re: Visual Mode Forced - 10/02/2002 13:57

There's no kernel differences.

But there are different bugs between the (internal) beta10 and the external beta11.

I guess I assumed that the post I inferred that from meant the player software.
