Well anyone who has an order with insight uk will know this already but...apparently the rio reciever has now been discontinued. Anybody else know about this?...Hugo?...Rob?

Wev've been waiting months for this product in the UK and now this. Is the Mark 2 ready for delivery or what?

It has not been discontinued.

The Receiver has never been launched in Europe as far as I know - maybe plans to do so have been dropped. That could be seen as a kind of pre-emptive EOL I suppose.

The Dell receiver has definitely been discontinued. Perhaps that's what the rumors are about?

No, I don't think so Tony. There are several suppliers in the UK who back in the fall listed the Rio Receiver for sale. The price they listed them for was less than the price SB were selling them direct, so they clearly at the time thought they were going to be getting them wholesale from someone (presumably SB).

Unfortunately despite lots of people ordering them as far as I know the UK suppliers never in fact managed to source them. It has been six months now since I first ordered mine.

Presumably with all the restructuring someone at SB decided that they couldn't afford to put in the investment they needed to start selling in the UK after all.

I don't think the confusion is over the Dell, it was never sold outside the US either and it was EOL'd before these UK suppliers started listing the Rio.

I and many others have had to resort to buying in the States and getting them shipped over by friends, silly.

God knows if SB will ever stoop as low as selling anyone outside the US a Rio Receiver, let alone the Rio Central...

So they're still being made, but is their anyway of finding out if they will ever be launched here? Or indeed if there is an updated version in the pipeline. Somehow I doubt it. I'm just resigned to the fact that we'll never get them here. Criminal when you think that they are UK designed. I guess I should just be happy that I have 3 empegs.

Any plans for a Rio Reciever 2 ? This item seems to be hot and a definate selling point for the Rio Central. I wouldn't consider a Rio Central if the Receiver wasn't available.

I got the same info direct from Insight. I was able to source 4 direct from Sonicblue/s3. They have a warehouse in Birmingham full of them. They were very helpfull and quick.
Apparently the packaging is damaged.

Who did you talk to? The US people seem rather unhelpful with this.
