By chance, has anyone created a narrow faceplate replacement?

My Empeg fits car one fine.

Car two, the factory radio is recessed, and a rubber faceplate covers it. :-|

Option 1: loose the portability of the Empeg, and mount behind the factory face plate. Not excited about that.

Option 2: Have the Empeg mount forward. Kind of looks out of place.

Option 3: Cut the factory rubber faceplate. No matter what,
it will look like it was cut to make the Empeg fit.

Option 4: Build a replacement factory faceplate out of mahogany, and make it look like current woodgrain interior car trim. Just more work than I want to deal with right now.

Other options?

Thanks.

Not that's ever been posted on the board, and I wouldn't expect it to happen, either, unless you do it yourself -- the problem is that the handle attaches in that little bit of extra width, so if you make a narrow face plate, you lose the handle. The other problem with a narrow faceplace is that everyone's "narrow" is going to be slightly different, depending on the make of the car. Mine would have had a millimeter, or two in the back, and then be tapered to about twice that in the front.
