This is mainly directed at the guys at Empeg themselves, but perhaps also at PaulH as he may be able to do something with this but...

There has so far been a lot of useful information been posted by the Guys at Empeg with regards to issues that people have with the Empeg (everything from feedback noise to getting the shell on the developer image)... is there any plan to create an FAQ on the Empeg site (or if not then on here) where we can keep track of all the useful posts (and to stop the Empeg guys from responding to the same qustions for the next 2 years)

Osborne,

That's a great idea. I would also like to suggest that we might want to have a page showing off all the software plug-ins that designers develope. Like if someone writes a program to open your windows when playing "Life is a highway," it would give them a central location to post it, describe it, and a location for empeg users to browse around and download that kind of stuff. Maybe something different from this bbs. And maybe www.empeg.com would put up a page of links to people's home pages with photos of their empegs in action, and their personal reviews.

Just a thought.

The empeg FAQ is linked from the Tech section of our web site, however it is rather in need of an update. I'll get on this soon.

I do plan to add a software/plug-ins section just as soon
as some one releases something.

I'm looking forward to the developers kit - does any of the
empeg people care to let us know what this will consist of?

How do I get to the 32Meg partition for user stuff - I tried
mounting the stuff under /proc/partitions but had no joy.

Also where is the inittab located so we can add our own software
etc etc.....

Regards

Paul

I would hope it would include a compiled version of the cross-compiler to save us all tracking it down and compiling it (or at least the ready patched source, there are bound to be patches...)

Hugo did state on the BBS somewhere which partition it was (I used search but can't find the article, I guess it was expired). He also said it wasn't formated so until someone compiles mke2fs you won't be able to do anything with it.

I don't think there is one, I think empeg uses a special cut-down init

Managed to find where Hugo refered to it:

We do on both the consumer and developer images. However, you can replace it with a shell script if you need to.

I may not be speaking on behalf of empeg above :-)
