BBS: {code} tagged input is double-spaced...Why?

Any chance that the double-spacing for {code} tagged input can be turned off? It makes stuff really difficult to read.

Didn't happen to me when I used the code tag. Perhaps it's one of those browser incompatibilities with the BBS. I've seen certain browsers really confuse the BBS, for instance, forcing an entire post all on one line instead of wrapping. Haven't seen much of it lately.
