Glow in the dark buttons?

Glow in the dark buttons? - 29/10/2002 13:34

Since the "AWESOME" button light kit is kinda difficult to perform for the average user, and im not even sure if its still being offered anymore... has anyone played around with some kind of glow in the dark material? or glow in the dark paint maybe? I'm pretty sure you need enough light or the glow in the dark material won't actually "glow" tho.. but it might be somethin worth trying, i just wish the buttons were backlit somehow

Others have talked about it in other threads, but I haven't seen anyone actually do it.

Speaking of LED buttons, I emailed "[email protected]" two weeks ago about buying two button kits for my two empegs. I did not hear back, and resent the question again last week.

Anyone know if there is another address I can reach Brian at? Are these kits no longer available? I assumed they were because the Buttons link at the top of the BBS page seems current.

Thanks,

- Chris

Greetings!

The link is current, and Brian's site specifically says that you will not get an autoresponse. Basically, each button kit needs to be custom cast by hand. There is a tremendous waiting list for them. If you sent the mail, then you are on queue for the button kit. It will take a while - some people have been on the list for months. Trust me, though, ... it is worth it!!!

Chris, did you actually read the gigantic text at the top of his web page?

Good things come to those who wait. IMHO - The buttons are worth the wait.

I ordered my new red buttons on Sept 10, and just got an email from Brian this week. Brian invites you to pay / order once he has the stock. I have paid and expect the buttons will be shipping any time now...

I was wondering about this, too. I would be very interested in a set of smoke buttons. But more specifically, I was wondering if it would be much more difficult to have 4 buttons under the knob instead of 3. I would like to go for a more "balanced" look. Does anyone know if that's possible?

Brian has already addressed this. If you look here (scroll down to Step 2) you will see he's upgraded the 3-LED illumination to 4 equally spaced LEDs.

Well that's great. Thanks, Rue.

So do you think I could simply ask for 4 LEDs in the kit, or is that standard now? And um, would anyone know what he's charging for these kits?

I believe 4 LEDs are now standard and the pic's on the site are simply old ones, I'm certain somebody will jump in and correct me here if I'm wrong. The prices are on the Buttons page linked at the top of this BBS.

Greetings!

An image of my players. This shows the blue with blue, amber with amber and smoke with smoke lighting, with the new four LED boards. The color is not percise - the VFD gives the display a more blue-green look than the photo was able to capture, but the contrast looks good.

As to pricing, I know that the four LED kits are slightly more expensive, but I do not remember how much. It is worth it in any case...

Small text. Missed 'em. Thanks again.

WOW , i still cannot believe how awesome the empeg looks with the lighted buttons!! This is a must have for any empeg owner. Did you do the install of the lights yourself?

It's even better with lighted buttons combined with a Darkstrom Neon Lens.

Hi all.

I think it is a bit sparse with information on his page. Like what kind of payment does he accept? PayPal? Creditcard?
Also which colors does he have? I saw in another thread that he could make almost any color. Can you just order any color or does he have just a few colors, like the red, blue, green, amber and smoke that are shown on his pages? What about clear diffuse (whiteish) so that you can just use colored LEDs for the color you want?

Perhaps his page isn't formatting correctly for you. He has links on that main page to the ordering screens, where you can see every available color and there are clearly labeled PayPal buttons for placing the orders through PayPal.

Edit: I just realized you were talking about Brian's buttonhack page, not Darkstorm's page. Just email him and when he gets back to you, you can ask him all those questions.

Greetings!

Thanks. No, Mark Lord did the install for me. He did a great job, as you can tell.

Having just placed my button order, I can tell you Brian does take Paypal. It is a separate ordering web site. Send him an email describing what you want. Once he has it in stock, he will email you the link to the order screen. This way you dont have to pay until he has the stock to ship.

Yes, I've seen the work on the top two units in that picture. It's very good.
