hang on "switching to"

hang on "switching to" - 10/11/2002 18:30

I just put hijack back on after adding a new drive and applying the builder image to both drives so i could just start over with a clean slate. When booting it hooked up to hyperterminal, everything works fine until the end where it hangs up and says...

hijack: removed menu entry: "Hard Disk Detection"
player.cpp : 385:empeg-car 2.00-beta13 2002/07/24.
Switching to

What is causing this and how do i make it not hang here. I can't get to the shell because of this.

Correct me if Im wrong but isnt this due to the hard disk detction being turned off in the hijack menu. The one so if you only have one drive it doesnt look for another.

After applying the builder image, did you do continue doing the remaining steps and apply a proper .upgrade file?

Often, scripted procedures are only useful when all the steps are followed.

Yes, I put beta 13 on both drives and have loaded some music on it and everything is working fine on the player itself. Its just that I want to reinstall empacman and empsoko but cant do this without getting to the shell. And I cant get the the shell because hyperterminal hangs up when it gets to the point that says "switching to". I have checked hijack for the menu option to detect second hard disks and that menu option isnt there. I also checked my config.ini file to see if it was removed from the menu for some reason and there is nothing there about it either. Does anyone know why it is doing this?

There is a thing that the player does during startup where the serial port baud rate changes. Are you trying to run the thing on car power? Are you sure all the hyperterminal settings are correct? Are you sure the cable is correct and isn't frayed or miswired?

Thanks Tony. It was on force dc for some reason. I put it back to normal and everything works great now. Yet another dumb user error being the cause of my problems. Thanks again. Now hopefully I will be able to get the games back on it without any problems. But knowing me, I'll do something stupid again and have to get back on here to solve whatever problems I have in the process.
