Custom Lens update

Custom Lens update - 03/01/2003 06:04

The Smoke & Clear Lens Sale is over. Sorry.
But good news is I found those materials at a cheaper cost so the normal price is now only $5 more than the sale was running at!
I am also out of seconds now. Those that were waiting, Sorry but I said not to wait didn't I.

I have also found the Colored Lenses at the same cheaper rate so their normal price will be only $20. The same as Smoke.
I am going to make up a couple more batches in the next couple of weeks but am still considering discontinuing them since sales have been dismal. So if you want them get them while you can.

Are you planning on running a batch of neons to fit the new fascia?

batch of neons to fit the new fascia

I would throw some support behind this effort.

No one has offered up a Fascia to loan so I can make a template, so no. There are no plans for it unless somebody decides to.

Re: Custom Lens update - 06/01/2003 05:59

Everyone can't have custom lenses already. There's no way I've sold 2500 lenses.
I haven't had any orders in a while. If I don't they'll go away.

And I guess no one wants to offer up one of the new fascia's to loan so I can make a template huh?

Hi! What combination is the closest match for BMW instrument lighting? A friend of mine wants to buy the closest match.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

I can't really tell you. I keep asking for people to rate how close what they bought matches there dash but so far only one or two people have replied.

Only thing I can suggest is ask on the board or try to pick the one that looks most like it on the Gel page since I had those pictures done by my friend who does color correction for a living.

Congo Blue w/ Clear lens is a close match to VW. Unfortunately it's not very good in the Sun.

That's good, but keep in mind differences in monitors such as phosphor variations, gamma settings, color temperatures, and brightness/ contrast settings will affect the color viewed on the receiving end.

True, but it's the best I could do to make them look like they do in an install.

I tried.

Thanks Stu. Coming from you I take that as a real compliment since from what I've seen you don't dole out praise too freely.

For my 2003 Dodge RAM the smoke lens with no color looks closest.

Re: Custom Lens update - 07/01/2003 11:44

Could you start a thread on the topic? (or have you and I missed it?)

For the record, the smoke lens is a great match for the green Subaru interior and is also an excellent match for Ford's with green interiors. Maybe if more people comment, you can put "matchs green interiors from Ford, Subaru, etc etc".

Everyone thinks that the smoke lens looks SO much better in my WRX and I can't really stand looking at the empegs that belong to my friends with their stock "blurry" looking blue lens. Getting rid of the hazzy look of the stock lens is reason enough - even if you stick with blue. (Yes, I know that the "fuzzy" thing was actually added as a feature to help with glare.)

Maybe a thread in the install gallery asking for photos of the lenses in action and comments on how they match various makes of cars?

I guess everyone is out of money?

The blue lens that came with my empeg matched my '96 Ford Explorer exactly. I have one of your smoked lenses too, but I won't use it unless I get a different car.

For those of you wavering, these things are high quality and easy to install. The smoked lens in particular also makes the screen much more readable.

Bingo... Christmas hurts.. My upcoming nuptials don't help either. I definitely plan on purchasing one, but I'm down to $125 to last 'till next friday, and I NEED to eat.

Re: Custom Lens update - 09/01/2003 05:45

I thought that might be part of it.

This is good the people that are posting the matches. I will pull them from here and start up a chart but I do prefer that people email them to me.
The only reason I've been here so much the past couple of days is I've been home sick with the bronchial pneumonia. I usually am not able to get here quite as frequently.
