Empeg as file store

Empeg as file store - 03/06/2000 03:45

With the Mk II having an ethernet port does anyone know if it will be possible to use the empeg as an mp3 storage volume and then play back tracks through another machine on the network?

Possibly by having an option in emplode to 'play on local machine' as well as 'play on empeg', preferably using emplode, or a 3rd party player, on the local machine so the empeg could be serving different tracks to different machines on the network. Although playing a single track at a time would surfice ;-) For now!

It was rumored that empeg had Shoutcast working over the ethernet port. If it's not included in the player, it should be somewhat easy to add this.

Had a hunt around on the old posts. Sounds very interesting.
Is this going to be a possibility? Rob? Anyone?
Kinda ties in nicely with the suggestion of running 2 mkIIs together, although maybe more cost effective ;-)

This will directly affect what capacity mkII I order NEXT WEEK!

It will be next week wont it???

:-) It's funny how excited people are about the order of the Mk2 :-)
But I can understand - I'm very excited, too (and will be till arrival of Mk2)

(Rob - noticed this? So don't be too pessimistic about orders ;-)

We're not pessimistic about orders, but seeing as we have to pay for a good sized chunk of all the component parts of a mk2 well before we sell them we simply aren't in a financial position to do a run of 5000 *now*. A run of 1000 is a HUGE amount of money, believe me... we'll be building up batch size as time goes on.

It'd better not be, I'm living without an oven for a couple of months so I can afford a mkII straight away!

I can't believe how excited and childish wer'e all getting - it's only a car radio afterall.

Now, that's dedication. Starving yourself for an empeg.

/. would be impressed.

I just bought a new house and won't have a washing machine or drier for a few weeks so that I'll be able to afford the empeg. I guess I'm smelling bad for the love of empeg!

I'm glad you said that, it was my washing machine that blew up and not the cooker! It's all in storage as I too am buying a new house.

I hope the chippie wasn't reading this ;-)

My mind has been shot being empeg-less for nearly 4 weeks now...
