Anti-Theft Idea...

Anti-Theft Idea... - 25/02/2003 16:16

I was walking by a car in the parking lot today and it had a sign that read "Audio Will Not Work When Removed." In a flash of inspiration, I found the perfect anti-theft device for the empeg. What we'll do is make up window stickers that say the following:

"You Are Not Smart Enough to Operate the Audio Player in This Car."

Not only would it keep thieves away, but it would clearly identify you as a smarter life form. I think we should get some of these printed up immediately, complete with empeg logos.

So who's in?

Of course it might increase the number of people who break in just for the fun of it...

"You Are Not Smart Enough to Operate the Audio Player in This Car."

Almost sounds like a challenge... "I dare you to steal it and try."

Or maybe you'll find a note where you empeg was: "Maybe so, but I'm smart enough to sell it!"

Bah, the idea is not to call any attention at all to your car or your empeg.

How about a sign that says:

"Car contains only AM radio tuned permanently to Rush Limbaugh"

tanstaafl.

ps: anybody want to hear a pretty funny (IMHO) Rush Limbaugh joke?

Re: Anti-Theft Idea... - 25/02/2003 19:12

I second the notion that this would intimidate a thief, rather than "scare" one. Although it does seem like a good general idea. Thieves tend to avoid any risk with a possible useless outcome. I think a more effective decal would state something like:

Audio Will Not Function If Removed Improperly

Im going to look into this idea... (Anything to help protect my Empeg.)

anything but removing it from the car

I thought that was management’s responsibility . . . Unless you're talking about destroying the ideas marketing has already sold to the customer without checking feasibility.

That is it exactly. I spend a lot of time in my current job cleaning up after marketing and sales after the fact when they ask if something they just promised is actually possible. Lots of fun

Re: Anti-Theft Idea... - 26/02/2003 22:14

Come on, man... let's have that joke already!

Aliens in their flying saucer look down and see a man in a rowboat on a small lake. He's real happy, singing "Rowin' my boat across the lake. Rowin' my boat across the lake..." so they beam him up, do a little poking and prodding, and decide to try an experiment: they remove 1/4 of his brain, return him to his boat, and watch to see how his behavior changes.

The man looks around, picks up the oars, and starts singing, "Rowin' my boat across the lake. Rowin' my boat across the lake...". This lack of change in behavior puzzles the aliens, so they beam him back aboard, remove another 1/4 of his brain, and put him back in the boat, confident he'll behave differently now with only half his brain left.

The man looks around, picks up the oars, and starts singing, "Rowin' my boat across the lake. Rowin' my boat across the lake...". Now the aliens are getting ticked off, and they pick him up again, take out still another quarter of his brain. They're sure that with only a quarter of his brain left, he'll act differently. And sure enough -- he sits in his boat for a moment, then takes out his cell phone, dials... "Mega-Dittos, Rush, I'm a first time caller...."

New York airport garage. A sticker said
"no radio in car"
The window was bashed in.
A paper note on the drivers seat said,
"Just checking"

Hmm... That's interesting. I couldn't find anything related to tshirts for the website though. Do you have a good link for it? I wouldn't mind hearing about a place to make low-numbers of t-shirts. (I guess i could use those printer transfers - never tried, but i don't quite like the idea).
