Don't know if you lost the german double-s "" and the o-diaeresis "" before or after translationMy browsers (or more likely, my browsers' default font settings) are not rendering those letters at all, so I guess I can't blame google for not translating them. I'll have to look into a font that will render them properly.

AlmostIndeed. I'm suspicious that this bbs doesn't support extended character sets. I checked my browser, and it definately supports non-us vowels (I haven't checked the double-s, though).

These BBS pages don't appear to contain an encoding tag (despite most people treating them as 8859-1) and so your browser's default will be used. Google and other pages will probably specifically set an encoding.
