Simulcast streaming - 07/09/2003 20:41

I've been trying to find a way to play music through multiple computers on a network in such a way that you can walk between them and have the sound be seamless. To date I have not been able to find anything. My ideal solution would be to have it streamed from my empeg (remotely controlled through vnc, of course!), and played through my house from floor to floor.
Problem is, every player has a built in buffer which prevents simultaneous playback.
Any one found a way to solve this, or will it require custom player software?

Try this. Winamp 2 plug-in.

http://triot.sourceforge.net/home-content.htm#features

"# It has the ability to synchronise playback between two or more Receivers via the "Listen To" menu option. This allows you to go some way towards setting up a "Whole Home" audio system using Rio Receivers!"

I bet you could do something even without a receiver.
