The Jolly Aceness of Hugo Fiennes - 14/11/2003 12:47

Thought the rear/left driver cap on my EmpegII had blown, so living in Cambridge I popped in to see the chaps at (the old) Empeg.

No less than the proprietor, inventor and overall top bloke, Hugo Fiennes attended to my needs.

Turns out it wasn't a problem with the unit, but rather the sled.

I cannot commend the professionalism and friendliness of the crew at Cambridge highly enough. Thanks very much chaps - and especially Hugo.

R

P.S. Had a sneak preview of some Rio players that will soon be wending their way over to the UK. I'm gonna buy one.

I'm envy being able to just "pop" on into their building!

It's probably a good thing they don't have offices in SF or near any large grouping of empeg owners... they'd probably end up having a number of "volunteer" employees.

We would open a small coffee shop in the lobby, it would be great

I bobbed into Empeg Towers a month or two back, if you call on a lot of businesses like me, you get to spot the ones with the right feel. Especially if you've just come from re-negotiating the contract with the local Cambridge newspaper! - meeting Hugo, Rob and the boys distinctly calmed me down.

I think that that's reflected on this BBS, the concern shown, the offers to do things for free and, well, you had to be at Amersfoort to get a feel for the spirit of the community - long may it live!

Oi, there's nothing wrong with them sofas that a jolly good steam-cleaning couldn't fix! The desk chairs, mind you...
