digital output - 27/07/2000 15:34

I was reading an old post by Tony. He mentioned,

"Hugo showed us some neat features on the main board. There are spaces for chips and components that aren't even filled yet. For example, there's a place for a certain kind of controller chip that would (if such a controller were soldered in and the software were written to take advantage of it) allow an spdif output."

Did this ever get implimented? Is it still possible? For those with digtal signal amps/receivers, it might help clear up noise problems at home and in the car. It would also make the sound quality more dependant on other components.

I had noticed the same thing. How you actually get it out of the box is another thing again but I can think of several usages for this output

There are no spaces for chips, but the relevant signals come out to pcb pads on the mk2 main board, yes.

No plans to do anything with this though, but we put it on there anyway.

Sorry if I mis-represented that.
