v3 for mk1? - 09/01/2004 02:43

Meh... I am *so* looking forward to the v3 software... UTF-8... FLAC... And, most of all, Ogg... *drool*
Only problem is that I have a mk1...

Anyone have any clue whatsoever when we'll see some kind of v3 support for the mk1?

I'm actually at the point where I'm seriously thinking about investing in a mk2), but since I've had ZERO problems so far with the mk1, I reckon it would be excessive.
I still need to get a blue face and an extra disk though.

I think there are problems getting the player and associated bits to sit in the amount of memory that is available on the Mk 1 and still have room for cacheing and running userland programs too. You never know, they might sort it, but I'd imagine the HD(s) would have to run continuously in order to do it.

Hm... Seems like we are returning to the memory thing?
At least one will have an easier time upgrading the memory of the mk1 than the mk2(a)'s... Obviously still have to somehow magically modify the bootblock...
