Empeg as Windows Mobile A/V Server?

Empeg as Windows Mobile A/V Server? - 22/02/2004 20:46

Well, I'm streaming wirelessly from my empeg to my wifes new iPAQ H5555 and it's pretty cool which gets me thinking about putting an access point and wireless connection for the empeg in the truck.

This wouldn't be totally necessary if I didn't have a kid (well I guess it still wouldn't be totally necessary) but on long trips or if the kid wanted to listen to something else besides what I want to listen to without dragging a bunch of cd's around he could stream audio off of the empeg.

What about video? Would it be possible to stream video from the empeg to a pocket pc (given that the software on the ppc would allow it)?

Edit:
Free PocketTV software for Pocket PC with details on streaming with it can be found here
Free Green Softare GSPlayer for Pocket PC that allows mp3 streaming can be found here

Should work just fine, once Hijack is updated to include the mime types for .mpg and .m1u files. I've just (now!) added them to my source tree, so you'll see them in v379, whenever that version gets released.

Cheers

hmmm.... I can copy .wmv files to the empeg but WMP9 for PPC2003 will not stream them although it looks like it's supposed to.

Mpeg-1 files (.mpg or ..mpeg), the type that PocketTV plays will not load to the empeg.

The proprietary .wmv format is YOUR problem.

As for .mpg/.mpeg files, they load just fine with FTP, thanks.

Oh FTP... didn't think of that (obviously); was using jemplode.

Thanks again.
