Empeg Convention - 02/09/2000 09:53

So when is the first empeg convention in the US? I think it would be cool to see different peoples installations and integrated automotive features. Sort of like an IASCA event for empegs.

Just glad you're qualifying this to the US territory. Rob Schofield and myself already had a convention about a month ago (no chinese food though)

Re: Empeg Convention - 04/09/2000 09:38

Just as much fun, though!

Maybe we should have a NL Empeg users Convention? Less distance to drive...

Hey I'm keen too. I'm living in Duisburg (Germany) which is only 40 km from the Netherlands. Do you mind foreigners turning up (I mean I am from New Zealand - can't get much more foreign than that )

Re: Empeg Convention - 05/09/2000 07:56

Given the number of replies, it doesn't sound so impossible to consider it. Well, if you guys are game, then so am I.

How about a Sunday afternoon meet in Amersfoort? There is a damn good car park complete with excellent Chinese restaurant/Pizza house/Eetcafe across from me here; I am in roughly the centre of NL on the A1/A27, with Henno out towards Rotterdam(-ish) and Derek about 140 km away in D (I'm not sure where Frank and Hendrik are). Seems like a reasonably central location to aim for. You would have the benefit of my electrical test gear & tools for installation problems...

All welcome. What about this Sunday 10th Sept, PM?

Could we pospone it for 2 week? I got my Empeg a bit "sooner" than I expected, so I'm waiting for my new speakers to arrive...

I seem to remember there being a few Washington DC @ surrounding area empeg owners here. maybe we could work something out here!

then again, I'd have to actually be in the area in order to attend. I'm in Williamsburg for school right now..

Well, according to the Registry on the Developer Site, there are 9 empegs in Florida, and a couple here in Fort Lauderdale...

Any interest in a South Florida get-together?

For those that are new (like me); I found the EMPEG owner registry at www.empeg.mars.org Who ever created / maintains this site - Nice job!

Re: Empeg Convention - 07/09/2000 06:49

Alternative date for this event (which I am assuming is now on ) is 2:00 PM Sunday 1st October, car park of the Emiclaer shopping centre (streetname De Beurs) in Kattenbroek, Amersfoort, NL.

Nearest motorway exit is Amersfoort-Noord on the A1 (Amsterdam-Apeldoorn). Contact me off line if you need extra detail to get there on the day.

I would be prepared to do tee-shirts to order for this event if there is any interest. Please note that these are not official merchandise from empeg Ltd. - but they all have one of these from me

I will attend if the event goes on.
I live in Nieuwegein (Utrecht) which is 25 minutes drive from Amersfoort
and are still considering to buy the Empeg.

I think seeing the baby in action would really convince me...
So if the event should take place i will definately be there!!!

It sounds like there are plenty of people interested in this NL meet - does anyone feel like setting up a mailing list for it? I can do as I did for the SF guys and mailshot clients in the area with details of the list.

It looks like Roger and I are definitely on for the meet, but we may have to leave the rear seats behind so we can fit in plenty of cheap continental beer

A mailshot to NL customers would be a good idea -plus of course anyone from Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg ... anyone, really . The more the merrier.

Then you'll need to arrive on Saturday before the supermarkets shut as there won't be much open on the Sunday!

We were hoping to find some sort of hypermarket, but that may involve driving to Belgium (I'm not going near France at the moment).

This has always been one of those concepts I can't quite grasp. I can drive for 200 or so miles in about any direction and not hit my state border. I have to drive for over 12 hours to get close to a country border, while people can attend a convention with a few hour drive from different countries.

Well, I was planning on driving up from Zürich for this meeting. It's about 800 miles and I'd be passing through a large chunk of Germany before I'd get to Holland.

Luckily a prior engagement has stopped me spending the whole of the Saturday driving up and the whole of the Sunday returning!

Can't we have something more in the middle of Europe? Funnily enough (coincidences do abound when they're conveniant, don't they) Zürich is pretty central .

Nick.

Why have one over the other when you can have both equally? :-) Miles upon miles of almost untouched scenic mountains. Then again, flatland Kansas is right next to Colorado, proving miles and miles of, well, flatland.
