Info on digital boards?

Info on digital boards? - 09/12/2004 15:34

I was wondering what advantage the digital output boards give the user? I see posts on these pop up on the board, and have seen them for sell from Eutronix, but if someone could explain it (and use small words, as I AM a conservative!) I would very thankful!
thanks

Potential to use a even more high end D/A (digital to analog) converter than the one built into the empeg, or direkt into an amplifier with digital inputs (hopefully containing a good D/A) lessening/eliminating problems with induced noise in RCA-cables and or ground loop noise as digital sigals are less susceptible to noise (or rather, easier to reshape back to original shape/interpret correctly even though there's some noise)

If you don't own an amplifier with a digital input, none at all.

or don't own a better D/A converter...

I think that elimination of ground loops alone makes the digital out worth it.

hi,

I am using since a cupple of month the optical output of the Eutronix board in my car together with the DSP 5800 form XETEC. There is no more ground loop comming out from your speaker.
But you still need the RCA cable for the tuner. This does not work over the optical connector.

You will find the Tohuwabohu in the attachment.
