Remote Volume intervals

Remote Volume intervals - 27/01/2005 20:19

I've searched through about 600 posts looking for an answer but didn't see anything that pointed to my question.

I just removed my head unit and am going direct with the Empeg into my power amp. i DO need to set up my power amp still per the FAQ (found that post) but I'm wondering if there's any way to make punches on the remote (Kenwood steering wheel mount - forget the model number) to go in even db on the emplode... ie if the player is at -28db on press of the remote will go to -27db or more... I didn't see any options in Hijack to do this or in any of the other settings. I just don't have the sound sensitivity that I'd like but perhaps the power amp setup could cure that as well...

Right. If I recall correctly, the volume intervals go on a perceived-audio scale, not on even-DB increments. Somewhere on the BBS there's a discussion of the increment scale it uses.

Ok but I'm guessing there's no way to change that then? It just takes a long time to turn it up or down with the remote and the knob is slightly out of reach. My head unit went to quickly... But I prefer this setup

I didn't know that speed was your issue, I thought you just didn't like the ".50" on the display.

If speed is your issue, it's possible to use Hijack IR_TRANSLATE commands to make the volume controls on your remote and/or steering wheel interface do multiple down or up presses. Read the appropriate section of the FAQ on how to install Hijack and how to configure its IR_TRANSLATE section.

OK... that will work better I think. I never thought of doing it that way. I have hijack installed but have never messed with the IR translate

That's how I have it set up .For every press of the up volume it sends 2 up signals and the down press sends 3 down signals.I staggered them so I could tweak the volume easier.
Be aware though if you use the remote to adjust the EQ it changes the level too much at one time so I use the knob.
