jEmplode Website Hijacked? - 29/10/2010 21:12

My apologies if this is in the wrong place, but I went to download the latest jEmplode, and it appears the website has been hijacked, or at least the URL. Just thought I'd let you guys know, maybe someone can sort it out

To be specific, Jim means that it popups the alert about the site potentially hosting malware.

It redirects to a site called funnysignage_dot_com/r.php which is a 404 and Google doesn't like that site either.

The domain is still registered to Daniel Zimmerman who is one of the authors or was involved with the jEmplode project. The webserver that hosts Dan's main site is the same as what is hosting jempeg.org. Not sure why its redirecting. Something has infected the webserver?

Has anybody got a copy of jemplode they could host somewhere? Or send it to me and I'll host it.

I have jemplode v70 "The Reunion Tour", not sure if it's the most recent one, but I uploaded it here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14085924/jemplode.jar

Anyone have the latest released source? It might make sense to upload that to GitHub or similar.

Google is still deeply unhappy with the jEmplode site. I PMed Tom about this when JimCamel posted about it but no response.

I certainly had a copy at one point, as I managed to build it. Need to find some time to dig through old discs and backups to see if I still have it.

good idea:
https://github.com/lbt/jemplode

That's the jemplode69-src.zip and at some point I tried using jode to decompile jemplode70

And whilst I'm at it:

Since that gitweb site appears to be broken for downloads, could you perhaps also simply post the source archive here?

Git is only useful for developers, when active development is happening. For the rest of us, it's a royal pain.

thanks

Doesn't https://github.com/lbt/jemplode/tarball/master work for you?

Anyhow... attached smile

Hey everyone ... My spidey sense detected distant cries and I came running smile

I never actually owned jempeg.org. That was Dan Zimmerman's. I haven't talked with him in quite a while, so I'm not sure what's up with that server. In the meantime, I've tar'd up my original CVS repositories for all of the j* projects and I'm going to put them on my dropbox, so people can pull them out and reimport them back into github or something with full history if that's useful.

There are two catches here:
1) tffid3, i believe, was binary only. Dan owned the license to that and I don't think he released the source code to it. He might be willing to at this point, though I doubt it would be GPL (he wasn't a fan). I think I have a source drop of it, but I can't release that without his consent.

2) I have the code to pearl-core (the karma communication framework) and rmmlite (rio music manager lite). I have NO idea who owns the rights to this code anymore. If someone can track that down, I'm happy to release that, too.

3) .... profit?

If anyone needs any more info, let me know -- happy to help out however I can.

Thanks for that update, Mike!

Your spidey sense seems to be dependent on the fact that I know your AIM account. I try to only exploit your weaknesses for good. smile

Maybe we could just change the official Jemplode hosting location to a subdirectory on riocar.org?

JEmplode is a java application, and should work on most platforms. The version I uploaded at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14085924/jemplode.jar works, you just need Java installed

Re: jEmplode Website Hijacked? - 07/01/2011 10:07

The three files above are also available here now:

http://www.ilquen.it/download/empeg

I am still donwloading jempeg.tar.gz from dropbox and having some issues. As soon as I have the file I'll upload on my server as well.

Should we need/want to have more empeg-related stuff in there, just let me know. I'll be happy to.
