20th Birthday Party, 2018 - 05/11/2017 18:00

Next year is the 20th anniversary of empeg's incorporation and I feel duty bound to pull off one last meet up / party. So let's kick off some ideas - thoughts on general time of year and location? Summer is traditional but we've had later ones as well. The two locations that make some sense to me are Amersfoort and Cambridge.

Exciting news Rob. Either works for me.

I'm interested. I can't yet know for sure if I can make it over or not, but the idea is currently intriguing to me.

My first trip ever to either the UK or Europe was for the Amersfoort meet in 2003, and since then I've got new friends in both England and Germany, and have been back a few times. So there's a higher likelihood that I could make it over there in 2018.

Excellent idea, Rob! Would love to see everyone again. Amersfoort has a lot of appeal, but we no longer have a "local" there with a back garden suitable for jet engine ignition. wink

Either venue, or really just anywhere would work!

Thanks for starting this!

I'd love to go, although it's a bit of a long shot. I've somehow managed to miss all the others just due to timing where I couldn't get away (although I did make a couple of the Ohio meets). Anyway, I'm interested, so if we get a date I'll let you know.

I've always thought it would be fun to host one here in Mexico, but probably not appropriate if it's going to be the last one.

Could I bring my Mk2 to get fixed?

I'd like to go - and Amersfoort is shorter and less expensive for me smile

awww... both very far from Illinois. frown

maybe we could do an online Google Hangout thing too so those of us far away can "remote" in?

Hey guys,

I was for a long time not on the BBS....But I would like to be a part of this happening even if its only with Google Hangout. :-)

Just to see you after a long time again.

Anyone make any progress on this?

How about August Bank Holiday weekend (25-27 August) Cambridge

13th June was the anniversary of the website being registered.
22nd Sept. is when the website went live (and people could pre-order/get in the queue)

Rather than Amersfoort, how about Eindhoven as thats where NXP is based (who I believe are the current owners of the Empeg technology)

Empeg -> SonicBlue -> DNNA (D&M Holdings) -> SigmaTel -> Freescale -> NXP

Not sure on the transfer between D&M and SigmaTel - if it was licensing or outright purchase. If its only licensing then the owners are Sound United LLC (DEI Holdings), who bought D&M Holdings

Gives me plenty of time to work on the spouse. Just gotta figure out how to justify this instead of a 15th anniversary trip smile.
