e-store Good News & Bad News... - 25/04/2001 22:03

The good news is that the Rio/Sonic¦BLUE e-store car section is back on-line (no the links are not working from the main page...yet...argh!) and now other player capacities are available!

The bad news is that we've had to raise prices. While not significant, this increase coincides with our launch of the Rio Car product into retail distribution (press release tomorrow) and provides enough margin to explore this type of channel. Now we will be able to get the Rio Car into physical stores and have more people than just you passionate folks talking to people about the product!

Thanks for all the support and great discussions on these awesome products!

Best regards,
Tim E

Well, I'm glad it's back, but can I get a new hard drive fitted? In the UK? I've run out of space on my 12 gig with only about half of my CDs on it, and I'm getting very close to trying to fit a new drive myself!

How about the other bad news. I STILL can't buy parts from the online store. (i.e. replacement sleds, bags, Empeg T-shirts, etc). Also, if I am going to buy a RioCar from this page, why in hades would I buy a Rio Car Stereo Adaptor? Maybe not the best choice for this page.

Yeah, it's probably the only piece of audio equipment that appreciates in value in the first few years of ownership...

My warnings probably scared him off.

For good reason, of course. If you're not the sort of type who's ready to dig into it, then you probably shouldn't.

Scared me off? A little, I'll admit. I've no problem fitting stuff to my desktop PC, but I really don't want to risk my beloved Empeg!

Still, I've run out of space and still have a couple of hundred CDs that I've not put on it, never mind ones I'll buy in future, so I'm getting more tempted by the day...

BryanR, I am really tempted to try to talk you into doing this yourself, but if you are hesitant, you probably shouldn't do it. I did it with no Linux experience and had no problems. I printed out the directions a few days before hand and read over them. I also posted any questions that I had and was sure to have a computer nearby that was connected to the internet so that I could post any problems as they were happening (but I didn't have any problems). Tony's FAQ was so detailed that I didn't need anything else.

I filled up my 12GB really quick too and it is nice having over 30GB now, but gain, it is probably NOT worth voiding the warranty.
