ICQ question - 28/06/2001 19:28

Does anybody know why my little ICQ flower (in the "Who's Online" and the "User Profile" section of the bbs) usually says I am off-line/not available when I really am on-line and available?

This has puzzled me for some time now. I don't want people to think I'm a grumpy old curmudgeon who won't talk to anybody (I really am, but I don't want people to know that) and I'd like to know if I can fix this.

Usually this is the ICQ server's fault. There's nothing you can do about it.

The web slug (that little indicator that appears on the BBS) has to go out to ICQ's web servers to get its job done. And ICQ's web servers are now owned and operated by AOL... We should not be surprised when their data lags behind the real world.

[sarcasm]
But how can you not immediatly associate a clear and selfexplaining icon like a flower with the status symbol for an online chat system ?
