lack of sync failures - 19/04/2000 15:49
hmm.I miss the old "sync failure at *(@$%*@*" messages..
NOT - congrats Empeg for making it so stable..I've uploaded almost 2 gb's in the last couple of hours without any problems...

...Out of curiosity, what speeds are you guys getting? Just benchmarked 277mb taking 19 minutes to upload from one computer (14.5mb/min); I'm going to try transferring from my laptop next to see if there's any difference..

OK - on my laptop (both machines are running w2k; desktop is running at 550mhz, laptop at 300mhz..), a 127mb transfer took 10 minutes (1.2mb/sec..)I'm measuring the time from when I click the sync button, until empeg gives me the sound saying it's done...
Anyone care to compare?

That's 216Kb/sec on average (which doesn't take into account the synchronisation overheads such as waiting for the disks to mount r/w and rebuilding the database). The actual transfer was probably closer on 300Kb/sec. I think it currently tops out around 400Kb/sec.
