kernel flash question - 10/08/2001 12:02

Mebbe I'm an idiot, but I can't figure it out... I DL'ed Drakino's compiled 1.03 kernel that has the voladj, Clock, irhack, etc. and use tfabris' Logo Editor to upload the kernel flash. It says it works, but I still get no clock.

Am I missing the .bin that is explained in the thread linked from Drakino's page? How and where do I put this file if it is not already in the compiler kernel file? What the he!! am I doing wrong here?

The kernel hack that "includes the clock hack" doesn't automatically give you a clock.

All it does is allow the display overlay feature that the clock program hooks into to get the numbers on the screen. You still need a separate program for the clock. It has to be run from the command line or from a modified init script.

Sorry I don't have a link or instructions for the clock binary program.

Drakino: Along with the kernels, do you think you could put up some disclaimer text? Like: "Note: kernel hacks for Clock and Displayserver do not work by themselves, you also need to run the appropriate software from the authors."

That was the other thing I forgot about. Running the programs required, which I think was called timed for the clock. Unless I completely missed it, I can't find instructions on how to make these changes. I haven't used linux since way back on Redhat 5.2 version and the computer died that it was loaded on... So please bear with me...
