Estore Inventory - 13/09/2001 10:24

More info... Looks like 100 Tuners and 100 Screen Kits were made available recently. Tuner is still listed as out of stock (perhaps because of back order fulfillment). Screen Kits can be ordered from the Estore. I'll be ordering my Screen Kit after this post. :)

Re: Estore Inventory - 13/09/2001 17:12

Greetings!

I noticed that I was able to place an order, even though they are still listed as "out of stock". I am actually very happy with my smoke plate from DarkStorm, but I wanted to "collect the whole set".

One thing I did notice - they are significantly less expensive than they had been. They are being sold as a set of three (green, amber and red) for $29.95. I am a little surprised - when I bought one of them previously, they were selling for about $30 something each. Since the price is equivalent for both US and UK stores, I assume this is not an error.

Now if only I could get the remote... (Preferably with the legendary stun / kill option... I know, just kidding... Although, if any of you ever want to sell one, let me know how much...)

All I want is a blue one, apparently you can't buy that color even in the kit! I already have an amber & a green lens, I would purchase all if there was a blue one in the kit.
My only other option would be to buy one of DarkStorms deep or light blue lenses at a higher price.
I also would like to get one of the new remotes to use at home as an extra.

Blue screens are being coated now and should be available soon(ish).

In fact there will not officially be a blue screen product. A number of them are in production as a service part, and if you need one [email protected] can make a special arrangement to sell one to you via the empeg store.

Thanks for the response to my post, I was more or less just seeing if anyone else was looking for the same thing I am. I traded my original blue lens & was getting worried you couldn't get one, now I miss it, unless I bought a unit.

So, basically, Rio is now selling the blue faceplate on the unit as the standard kit, and if you wanna accessorize you have to buy the other lenses as a package? Interesting. That sorta sucks for people who only want one color to match their dash... they have to pay $30 more for their player to get the color they want... but i can see how logistically it saves S|b a lot of work and stock problems.

Re: Estore Inventory - 15/09/2001 16:54

The production and sales logistics for 16 different SKU's on the one product line was almost unmanagable. Before the acquisition, we ended up stripping players and swapping faceplates or disks on a regular basis, to match orders with stock.

Reducing this to 4 SKU's plus an accessory was the only logical solution.

Re: Estore Inventory - 16/09/2001 02:14

Good idea, except that there are a few components behind the display that need to be well protected during shipping. Actually they need to be well protected the whole time. Also, the empeg without a face plate doesn't meet FCC regulations. The empeg would *definitely* have to be shipped with a face plate, and I can't see Digital River fitting the face plates before the ship the units. It is a pity that you can no longer order exactly the empeg you want, but I think they have found a reasonable compromise, a side effect of which is that the face plates are now cheaper - you get 3 for what you previously had to pay for one (if I understand the other posts here correctly - haven't looked myself).

Re: Estore Inventory - 16/09/2001 11:14

You guys are totally overlooking the obvious other alternative.

I mean, if SB is trying to reduce the number of SKUs, why not just include a set of all faceplates with every unit sold?

Re: Estore Inventory - 16/09/2001 11:33

The faceplates are very expensive parts - and the customer demand for colours other than blue is quite low. The kit seems to be the best option, especially as it has clearly been priced to the benefit of the customer (I checked that pricing twice when I first saw it).
