hello

sorry this is un-empeg but I bet someone on here has one of these and can answer my question

I am looking at getting the sony MZR700DPC MD player/recorder

the question I have is they say it holds 5 hours on one disk transferred from a pc. can someone that has one of these describe the process. I am wondering if I want 5 hours of music on a disk does it take 5 hours to put it on ?

the other question I have is can 5 hours be recorded on to a disk using a microphone.

if anyone has one of these and can help it would be great I have had no luck finding info anywhere

thanks

It does take 5 hours, yes. When running in MDLP (long play) modes, the quality does deteriorate - it's the equivalent of going down to something like 64k on MP3.

Sony have been showing NetMD, which is a USB-connected MD drive which will record MP3s to MD at up to 32x (when I saw it at IFA, it looked like about 8x though). Not available yet though.
