How long should cloning one Empeg to another take? I have a unit with approx 3600 tracks or 16gigs. IT has taken me 12 hours to get about 25%. Is this about right?

I don't think it should be taking that long.

Did you use the known-stable version 1.03 of the software to do this job? Or did you use the known-buggy 2.0 beta 7 to do it?

I cloned about 4GB worth the other night and it took at least 4 hours. If my math is correct, 12Mbit should take about 45 minutes to transfer that amount, one-way, so double that assuming 12Mbit is shared bandwidth for USB.

It could have been longer, in which case, 94cobra's numbers would be consistent with my own.

Still not an issue for me, but while we're on the topic...

USB does about 300k/s according to this

Therefore 4GB should take about 3.8 hours and 16GB about 15.5 hours. This is assuming it's 300k/s up and down though.

I downgraded both players to 1.03 and used the clone tool with 1.03. Then because of the serial number issue, I traded the drives between the units(couldn't wait for them to fix the program.)

It took around 43hours to complete 16gigs of data. I think that is too long but it is now done.

10 gigs took less than 10 hours, It's still going to be a pain keeping them sync'd. Ideally you'd just connect one unit with emplode, download data, plug in next unit and hit sync. But that would be too easy
