ok so i ordered another rio car, i have 1 20gig, 1 30gig and the other 50gig that has nothing to do with this post, i got one for my dad the 30 gig becuase thats all they had left, i have this 20 gig here, nowmy dad dosnt have that much music nor dose he care about having a lto of space. so what i wanan do is order a 4 or 5 gig drive and put it in his, then take the 30 gig out and pop it in the 20 gig unit or vise versa which ever works outs better, this is possible correct? and i dont have to do any messing aroudn with drive stuff it should just be plug and play? and all i gotta do it drive work on the other unit? let me in on the inside information. thanks

All of the information you need to answer your questions is located in the
Drive Upgrade Guide.
Yes, you can do what you're asking to do (steal the 30 and put a cheap 5 in your dad's player). You will have to partiton and format the 5, and install software onto it. Full instructions are in the drive upgrade guide.

There must be someone out there who will part with a 10 gb cheap. After all, how many 10 gb players were just sold?

Actually, my 10GB drive is just sitting there.... I'd be willing to sell it to put money towards my Firewire or USB drive... anyone PM me about it or else I'll put it up in the For Sale forum. I could even put whatever player software on it you need (1.03 or 2.0b7).

I have a 4 (or is it 6?) GB hard drive from my ThinkPad -- and it works fine. If you pay for shipping, you can have it.

It'll cost less than $10 -- I checked rates on UPS.com and shipping to zipcode 94952 (I'm assuming that's near you) is like $6.60 for three day.
