Random Standby

Random Standby - 07/02/2002 06:25

It seems that whilst on AC power (I STILL havent got it into the car yet, other things taking priority, mainly rust ) my Rio 2A will go into standby at random intervals.

It could be 2 minutes or 2 hours, it is very random. The unit is running around 35 degrees, with Hijack set high temp at 55.

I am running the unit from a PSU different to the factory unit, although this is rated at 1.5Amps max.
The RIO is a single drive unit running the latest consumer kernel.

Is this a power problem as I suspect, or something else?

Apologies with this elementary question, but are you sure it's going into standby and not just blanking the screen? Hijack has a screen blanker and depending on how active your visuals are, the screen blank can occur at any time, depending on how long your timeout is set.

If that's not the problem, and you're actually going into standby (LED flashes, music stops playing, etc) then it sounds like a more pressing problem and I'd start talking to David @ Empeg.

What is your screen blank on hijack set to. Both time and sensitivity.

Timeout is set to 00:15 and sesitivity is set to 65%

So that will also turn off the player then? I was under the impression that it was just a screen blanker, but then again hijack surprises me more and more

Yeah, the music is topping as well.
Im going to try a diferent PSU as the power at work probably leaves something to be desired. The health and safety ppl are visiting soon, and thats my day off

I'd hate to have to return the poor thing already! I havent even tried to break it yet
