Glove Box Install of Standard deck?? only 1 DIN - 04/05/2002 13:45

Hi,
I only have one drive bay in my car, so I can not have both my regular deck and the empeg hooked in dash. I must have the empeg in the dash, as it looks so very cool to see it. Plus it is easier if I leave my deck installed so I can run the empeg as AUX and wiring would be much easier. My question here after all this rambling, is has anyone don a glove box install of a deck? What is the very best way and simpiliest way to do this? I would really appreciate any links or ideas. if not any other suggestions let me know.

Thanks
Jim

I have a single din in my car......and the radio lost. One amp later I must say I made the right choice. Now if only I had a tuner.......

Although this phrase is going to come out sounding strange because of the BBS nicknames you folks have chosen, I think you'll get the gist of it:

Demon, listen to Satan. He gives good advice.

You will run into more trouble trying to install the other stereo in the glove box. Your best bet is to install an amplifier and use the empeg as your only stereo. Trust me, you won't miss the other stereo.

Unless you listen to the radio a lot and don't have a tuner

A problem which can be easily solved with a small portable radio plugged into the aux-in, or you can live without a tuner for a while until Patrick can make the kits available.

Usually, I only listened to the radio when I was bored of the CDs in my car, something that doesn't happen any more since I got an empeg.

I'd agree with that too - I've got two units installed in my VW - the empeg, going through my JVC MP3 CD player's internal amplifier. I purchased the JVC approximately 10 days before the firesale of empeg units, and had it professionally fitted, otherwise I probably would have sold it and bought an amp instead.

I can honestly say that, in the month I've had my empeg, I've used the JVC for RDS traffic reports (which you don't have in Canada/US I believe), and once when I left my empeg in the house and was in too much of a hurry to go back and get it.

I also must say that I'd heard everyone say 'once you have an empeg you'll never need a CD player in your car' and didn't believe a word of it. I do now

Cheers,

A.

the tuner for me is big issue, I don't need it for anytime other than drive time in the morning and on friday afternoon.
Traffic reports are kind of important if you want to get to work on time.
The idea of a battery powered radio bouncing around does not seem that great.
