You won't find an easier or cheaper way to add network capability than this.

Yeah but that won't get you most of the advantages of using ethernet. The would be the same or slower and USB eats CPU cycles compared to ethernet... I'm sure you can find a real ethernet card for about the same price... Even my last laptop ethernet card cost $20(used, however).

I purchased two Netgear 10/100 NICs at a local Circuit City for $20 each. One is dedicated to my DSL modem, the other is hooked up to a 4 port hub, which I use for the empeg or friends' machines when we feel like playing a game on LAN.

Well, for $5, someone might have a use for it. I ordered one so that I can easily plug in at my ethernet challenged friends' houses and still be able to browse my music via IE.

I'm guessing that there might still be some people who don't like the idea of opening up their computers...

Well, for $5 I suppose it's a good idea. But I would prefer a real NIC like matthew_k. I'd like to get all the speed I can.

Yeah, for five bucks it might be nice to experience the web/ftp servers of hijack, which alone are worth five bucks easily... But if you really don't have an ethernet card, pick up a real one while you're at it as your primary way to sync, you'll never regret it...
