Rio Remote stolen... Can I get one anywhere else?

Rio Remote stolen... Can I get one anywhere else? - 28/06/2002 07:29

Well, someone broke into my car last night... Oddly enough, they took my Kenwood remote (for my Kenwood player) and my Rio remote and my checkbook and that's it... The RioCar was right there along with my other stereo and they never touched either of them. The looked at the CD's I had in the car but didn't take them... Didn't take the radar detector or anything other than those remotes and the checkbook... So... can I get a Rio remote anywhere or what's the Kenwood model that matches up with the RIO remote and where's a good place to get it? Is the Kenwood KCA-R6A remote still available (as mentioned in the FAQ)?

Don't think you're safe. I had my car broken into once and they took the faceplate off the stereo but not the stereo... and came back the next two nights attempting to get the stereo.

I know... I've got to check the rest of my house to make sure they didn't get anything else... The alarm will be on every night now and the rio player will be goin gin my house... It's sad that as a society we've come to having to lock everything up because of a few bad people

Well... this brings up an interesting question. I called my insurance company to see what to do should the Rio player get stolen since it was more or less a collector's item now. They said they'd try to replace it with the same one (YEAH RIGHT!) and if it wasn't available, they'd replace it to fair market value unless I had an appraisal of the radio... Well, I paid $500 for my player and added a 40 GB hard drive...

So, what do the rest of you do as far as insurance?

Me? I pray, a lot. And I have a backup (my 10GB Mk2.)

I'm going through an insurance problem right now. Since it is installed in a company vehicle my company will not cover any personal items in the van. My insurance company tells me that they can't insure it since it is installed in a vehicle that another insurance company insures. So in other words I am SOL if anything happens to any of my installed audio components. It sucks. I am trying to argue with my company that it is a pull out HU so it's not really permanently attached, neither is my sub bolted down.

Actually, I am a guitar player but I don't have a Steve Vai model... I've got a ESP George Lynch, An Epiphone Ace Frehley, a Peavey Wolfgang, and about 8 others (the wolfgang is my favorite right now...). My initials are JEM...

This remote is a much better choice IMHO.

I once had some one break into my camaro.. they were after my radar detector that i cleverly left in the window (DOE!).. anyways they jimmied the door open and seen all my stereo equipment (10k worth) and tried to steal the car instead.. they got it started.. but its a 4 speed and they couldn't get it into reverese... only reason i still have my car and equipment..

The theives couldn't just push it backward far enough to go forward? How did they ever figure out how to get in the car?
