Empeg for sale (Europe, the Netherlands) - 06/01/2003 05:25

Hi,

I have an Empeg for sale in the Netherlands (Europe).

It is a 10+30 GB (30 done by myself) Mk2a, blue faceplate, used only at home (and even then rarely). It is in pristine condition (bought in march 2002) and contains all the usual stuff (cables, player, remote, harnass, European power supply, original bill + box, etc. all as shipped originally as standard). The unit has been tested at home and in a car (once, using somebody else's sled) and works fine, no issues like some other Empegs have.

Serial is 40104283.

I am selling it for E 800 excl. shipment. I had the shitty experience of paying a lot of import tax.

The reason I am selling is that it is not possible for me to install it in a car since both my girlfriends old and new car do not have space for a double din set-up (she also wants to have a non-empeg head unit and I do not have a car). Sounds stupid, but it is the way it is. And the Empeg is just a bit too expensive to use it just at home.

Greetings from Jaap.

OK, let me get this straight -- which of the two girlfriends has the new car and which one has the old car?

I'd stick with the one with the old car, keep the empeg and get her a newer car that will support a double DIN installation.

I've heard of choosing a car based on empeg compatibility, but choosing a girlfriend on that criteria just seems wrong.

Then again, the more I think about it...

My wife has turned out to be TiVo compatible and empeg compatible, despite initial reservations on her part. I guess this means you can't base everything on first impressions. (?)

Apperently my English is not up to your's, as was to be expected. What I meant was that the old and new car of my girl friend (the one and only), and the girl friend herself, all are not Empeg proof.

Indeed the issue remains whether choosing for a specific girl friend should involve this criterium. Imagine a date made on the criterium "should be willing to buy a new Empeg-proof new car". I think that are going to be lonely times.

Anyway, my choice is clear.

Nah, he was being deliberately silly

"should be willing to buy a new Empeg-proof new car"
She already did. You want an empeg-capable (girlfriend, girlfriend's cars)

He just means that you left out the apostrophe (') in ``girlfriend's''.

Incidentally, ``yours'' doesn't need an apostrophe; in English, the possessive pronouns (yours, his, hers, ours, its, etc.) don't require apostrophes even though their noun equivalents (Tony's, Jaap's, Tony's and Jaap's, etc.) do.

Hey,

I'm the girlfiend and I'm definitely not empeg proved, but then again, all what counts is the f-word. So, problably you've to much time to have these kinds of conversations, which makes me wonder......

I see my girl friend took the opportunity to post something under my name while I was away. Sorry for that.

IMHO your remark was funny, and my girlfriend's remark is rude (and from a Dutch point of view also funny). Although she did not mean it like that (English is just a bit too complicated for us to distinguish subtle and rude remarks).

So I hope no offence done, certainly not meant. My excuses again for having somebody else using my account. It will not happen again.

The only thing that I can see to apologise for is the fact that she used your username. But she did make it clear that it was her and not you, so I don't see much harm done.

Maybe you should encourage her to sign up here so that we can persuade her to buy an empeg-compatible car

Would that be a Fempeg: A girlfriend's Empeg?

The Empeg is not for sale anymore. I decided to keep it since my girlfriend bought an Empeg compatible car . It took some effort, but in the end we are both happy.

Just like all housing choices should be made on the availability of broadband, all car choices should be made on the ability to properly house an empeg.

Good call.
