Extra VFDs - 16/12/2003 16:42

Greetings!

Well, I have contacted everyone who preordered or reserved a VFD. I have some spares. Anyone interested should contact me via email. The price would be $60 shipped. Thanks!

You know you have done too much business with Noritake when they start sending you Christmas cards...

$60? wow. i thought those things were going for like $300, but I suppose a lot of that was the shipping to europe.

Well, this is just the glass VFD. It is not the entire display board. Noritake sells them (bulk >20 units) for $56.xx each. After shipping and repacking, it averages out to just over $60 per.

The tiny ones, used as part of foxtrot_xray's kit, are more expensive because they have the circuit board attached on them.

Since three-quarter years I have a player with a display problem.
The player starts up with a very dim display, afterwards 10-60 seconds later
the display went completely dark.

I checked everything, but I couldn't find any faults.
Finally I replaced the VFD with one from Paul.
and the now the empeg is back to live.

Thanks again Paul

If you have a VFD left, I will take a second.
You never know.

Re: Extra VFDs - 07/01/2004 19:09

Greetings!

Actually, I am out of spares that I had planned to sell at the moment. I wanted to keep three spares for my own units, but in the end I had to sell one of those (I had already committed to the person, but I had not heard in a while and released the VFDs to others).

I will hold on to these spares for emergencies / breakages down the road. I will also check to see if Noritake has any lying around in stock still. If I find more in stock, I will post.

Meanwhile, the problem that you had is not unheard of. Basically, it is a fault in the VFD itself. There have been a few like that in the past. The only remedy is to replace the VFD, as you have already found out.
