80 GB empeg and 1981 stainless steel, gullwing docking sled - 20/12/2004 16:44

I'm selling my MK2 with a single 80 GB drive, blue lens with new PCATS radio tuner module and car as a package. The car is a 1981 DeLorean (great scott!) that has had everything, and I mean everything done to it. It's practically a brand new car.

I'll be writing up a comprehensive list of all upgrades, updates, etc as soon as I have a few hours, so if you're interested, just send me an email.

Pictures of the install, performed by our own Tony Fabris can be seen here.

(edited to add the radio tuner)

How much?

Oh yeah, I forgot to post the price: $25,000. I'll put together a list tonight or tomorrow with all the details and pictures and such. I'll post a link here.

If you don't like drawing attention, don't consider this car... er, empeg sled.

Does that include the Mr. Fusion, or is it extra?

I know guys that make Back to the Future props, so if you want a Mr. Fusion or a Flux Capacitor, I could arrange it. Take for instance, my mechanic's car.

Hm, looks like it's a manual. Are you offering this for sale only on this BBS? And I never did understand the Alpine display above the dash.

It is a 5 speed manual, and I'm not only offering it on this BBS. I'm first putting feelers out to a few of the circles that I run in, and then I'll probably hit the mainstream sites (ebaymotors, autotrader, etc) if nobody's interested. I'd prefer to see it go to someone that I know through message boards or mailing lists.

I'd forgotten about that alpine equalizer until you mentioned it. I didn't even notice it in the pictures when I looked today. That thing is long since gone.

I still say my VW Scirocco was the inspiration for the car!!!

Well, the same person designed both.

That man is my hero. If you look at the MkII/16v Scirocco it looks amazingly like the Delorean.

And the Scirocco...

Ah, but does your VW have the gas cap conveniently placed *inside* the "trunk", which is in the front; such that fueling up in the rain will dampen anything you have stored there?

And do your windows roll (rather, slide) down only 1/3 of the way?

And, on some models, is there a sticker conveniently placed by the driver side mirror so you can barely see out of it?

Ah, these are the brilliant design elements that make the Delorean such a unique piece of work. (regardless of the quirks I've seen and heard from my Delorean owning friend, I still want one.)

A little design cue borrowed from Volkswagen, was it not?

Nope... mine is fairly normal. I drove a buddy's delorean and loved it but GOD I wouldn't want the maintenance bills. Good thing about a VW... any idiot--ahem... can work on them.

I am proof.

I would still love to see one on the track against my R32 just for grinz.

As long as it isn't a TDI then no one including VW can fix them.
