Scam Artist Arrested - 01/06/2002 22:20

Chris, I have arrested Austin in this case and he has confessed. I need any and all documents regarding the transaction between him and yourself. You can mail to me Detective James Feehan at Peoria Police, Cyber Crime Taskforce, 600 SW Adams, Peoria IL 61602. Thanks

WOOOHOOO they got the sorry SOB. I said that the law would take care of this. I suggest that Andy and Keith send Detective Feehan all of the information that they have.

I want to thank all of the people that helped get the word out on this before he did more damage.

Chris

Oh yea, along those lines I am not sure what is gonna happen with the 20gb model that he sent me. The police may want it for evidence and I may get the money I paid back, so I may be in the market for a 60gb model if anyone is selling one for $750 or less.

THIS time I want to go through ebay or an escrow service, I want a photocopy of a drivers license, the seller's mother's maiden name, and a DNA sample, so that when you rip me off I can at least take it out on your clone--if nothing else. HAHA

Good going! I say he should be drawn and quartered, it's a shame they don't do that anymore.

GREAT!!!

I'm very happy to hear that, after silently reading all those sad posts of the recent weeks.
I hope all the "victims" will be refunded and that this happy end will discourage dishonest people from popping up in this community.

Re: Scam Artist Arrested - 03/06/2002 09:20

What are the average current prices of 20gb and 60gb models?

Re: Scam Artist Arrested - 03/06/2002 10:17

That question is very difficult to answer. In the past couple of weeks, ebay prices have shot up ~20GB models have gone for anywhere between $600 and $800, and there haven't been enough 60GB sold recently to say.

But, at the time that you were originally buying, I'd guess at $400-$500 for a 20GB, and $600-$800 for a 60GB, but again, there's probably more fluctuation in the pricing of the 60GB models as fewer have come up for auction.

Hey stahimooney, I'm in the Seattle area and I have a couple empegs you may be interested in. I have done other transactions on this board before, even with Keith (kds), we met up at Bellevue Square mall. I have a 1-20gb empeg, 1-60gb empeg, and an 80gb empeg. I'll even let you demo it in my car to make sure everything works right. Email me for more info. [email protected]

If you paint pictures of scams, would that make you a scam artist?

Re: Scam Artist Arrested - 03/06/2002 17:51

DeadFire, by posting that link to Ebay, are you trying to say that the Ebay seller in that auction is the same as the alleged scam artist being discussed in this thread?

If so, where is your proof of this?

Re: Scam Artist Arrested - 03/06/2002 18:09

I think he is showing it to stahimooney, because he is looking for a 60 player. But maybe not.

Re: Scam Artist Arrested - 03/06/2002 18:43

i was responding to stahimooney, simply to show him that someone on eBay put up a 60bg empeg for sale. i was in no way accusing that seller of being the scam artist that i have read so much about. sorry for not being clear on that.

Chris, that's excellent news ! It is good to see justice prevail and that so-and-so receive his just deserts. This is thanks to your efforts and is much appreciated.

Obviously he was a moron rather than a criminal mastermind after all ...

I have received an email from Detective James Feehan asking for my details and evidence which I will pass on.

Have you heard what the situation is regarding us all being reimbursed ?

Once again well done and thanks.
