IDE Hardrive + notebook - 15/08/2002 07:35

Hi

I have an old 1.8Gb IDE hard drive that has files on it that I need to get back. Is there an adapter available which would allow me to connect this drive to my notebook via USB, ethernet, or some kind of pcmcia card?

Cheers

If I remember correctly, most external USB hard drives are simply normal hard drives in a case with some stuff to convert it to USB. I believe you can get these cases pretty inexpensively.

They can usually be found for around $80-90. Like this one. I'm sure there are others that are cheaper, just check Pricegrabber.com, pricewatch.com, etc.

If you don't want to spend much money and you have a friend w/ a cd writer, you can just add that hard drive to his computer and backup the whole thing on 3 cds. Shouldn't take more than 30 mintues all together. Heck, I'll even do it for you if you want.
