New Rio Receiver competition (maybe) - 23/10/2002 09:24

Take a look at this:
http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/akiba/hotline/20021019/etc_bibio.html

The build quality looks kinda crappy, but the screen is interesting. I can see the words MP3 and WMA in the text, so I assume it can stream off a server as well as play internet radio and memory stick. I don't expect any replies to this post, but I found it interesting that after Rio Receiver and Audiotron came out 2-3 years ago there is finally an asian counterpart (minus the RCA outputs).

Almost understandable:

Without using the PC, the unique Internet radio for receiving only machine " BiBio that (the )" appeared from the sun electron it can hear Internet radio broadcast as a single unit. As for actual sale price 34,800 Yen (as for details thing " of the new product reference which this week is found").

Receiving the streaming broadcast which is transmited on Internet directly, it can play back " the BiBio " the " broadband radio ". Usually, when you inquire about Internet radio broadcast with the PC, the URL is inputted and/or the work of saying becomes necessary, but the using which with " the BiBio " from the summary which is indicated in the liquid crystal picture which it has on the substance front the broadcasting station (the contents) it selects just you say with the , almost is not different from the normal radio it has become selfish. It is the impression appearance of the substance in a flash as for seeing rather than calling the broadband radio, such as the general small-sized CD compound.

With say, when you look at the rear of the substance, we to have the connector which is not for the normal radio such as the LAN connector and the USB port, using the LAN connector at the time of use, it means to connect with the equipment such as ADSL modem and the Hub et cetera. Initial condition using the DHCP, has reached the point where you acquire IP address and the like, but using the , also it is possible to change to manual allotment on the setting menu. In this way, when you see, the broadband radio of PC unnecessary say as for some knowledge regarding network it may become necessary.

In addition, can play back the MP3 and the WMA file which are recorded to the memory stick also " memory stick play mode " has, (on substance top the memory stick equipment). But, the broadcast contents which are received what it cannot record in the memory stick a little is the regrettable place. In addition, using the USB port, " the BiBio " it can utilize also the function of " storage media mode ", you can verify the number of arrivals of the E-Mail " arrival mail several verification functions " et cetera it equips by the fact that it connects with the PC the memory stick leader / as the lighter/writer.

Furthermore, with as for being able to receive " the BiBio " although it is limited to the broadcasting station which is registered to the private index server of the same company, the number 500 bureaus or more and is very abundant. As for the broadcasting station data of the index server, you say you have obtained by the fact that it cooperates with Internet radio portal sight " LIVE365.com ".

With ease it purchases it is harsh the place where to be quick and expensive, but as a single unit it can hear Internet radio broadcast as a single unit, in just the equipment which you say and is not so far, may attract attention.

I guess I am kinda critical when it comes to esthetics...I really like the look of my Rio receivers..and the Turtle beach Audiotron is sexy too...I just wish the software was more robust for the Rio...hopefully soon. I hate to shelve a potentially good product based on looks but it does have sit on display in my house....

Omigod. For a moment there I thought that those unintelligible paragraphs were written by Bitt.

A closer look showed me otherwise.
