Tablet PC's - 08/01/2003 22:27

Working for a software developement company contracted for the government... Your tax dollars, well, buy us some really cool toys, today I was handed two of the new HP/Compaq tablet pc's. I've worked with tablets before (mainly the fujitsu) and haven't been impressed at all.

These lil guys came with a 1 Ghz proc, 768m ram, wireless ethernet, dual usb, built in 10/100 ethernet, svga out, WinXP tablet edition, some cool button dohickies that make navigation easy and an optional fold out keyboard that pivots and folds attaching to the back.

Definately the coolest thing I've played with in a while. This is the first tablet pc I've worked with that was actually usable, and the coolness factor is high.

Make sure to check out Alias Sketchbook if you have any kind of artistic skills. It's what is very tempting to an artist friend of mine right now.

I'm still hoping for an OS X based convertable notebook. (The tablet PC design that always has the keyboard and such attached, and the screen swivels around to close on the keyboard in tablet mode).

That looks cool, I actually was an art major before leaving the art field and becoming a tech, expensive but cool.
I doubt these will be in my possesion much longer as they will probably be configured and out for demo tomorrow morning.
