Everybody seems to want to kill the iPod!

Here's a new one I found. The Neuros. A couple of things I think are cool:

- Standard 128MB, add on 20GB "backpack" ($399 Total)
- Built in FM tuner, with the ability to record radio to MP3.
- Built in FM transmitter - rental cars....
- Built in microphone... To leave yourself audio notes...

And the downers:
- A little bigger than an iPod, a lot thicker. (Also a lot heavier with the 20 GB backback)
- No USB 2.0 or Firewire

It doesn't ship until Feb 10th, but I thought I would throw out another.

And if you missed this thread there are 2 others I never saw here, but I don't think they are in production yet. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, duh, it's not big enough, and the interface is sort of crappy.

How do you mean not big enough? In comparison to the empeg, or iPod. You get the version with the 20GB hard disk, and if you want, buy a couple more, and swap them out. But I agree with you about the interface. The iPod's is much better.

several 20gb ipods is "too damn expensive". I have a 80gb empeg, and I'm using 60 of it. I don't want to have to think about managing my collection again, I stopped when my empeg stopped being 100% full, and I don't want to go back.

if you want a portable player I would go with the nomad
zen. Much cheaper than the ipod and very close to the same size. Plus you can easily upgrade the HD in the zens.
