I just had to argue with a Verizon CSR the difference between SDSL and ADSL. The sad part is that I wasn't even calling about DSL... just adding another phone line.

Verizon employs morons. You can't argue with them. What were you thinking?? :-)

That's OK. AT&T is still calling me telling me my cell phone doesn't work on my system. This is 2 months AFTER they said it would quit working that weekend. One guy told me it was already removed from the system. We argued about it until I informed him that I was talking to him on it and therefore it must NOT be dead. Dolt.

Okay, I just have to know. How did you get on the topic of DSL, and what was the rep incorrectly claiming?

That's nothing. The sales reps at Telocity were telling me that I could only connect to Telocity servers with their service.

Me: So that means that I can't connect to any servers that aren't owned by Telocity?
Rep: That's right.
Me: So, are you trying to tell me I can't access the general internet with your DSL service?
Rep: I'm afraid not.

Needless to say, I went with somebody else.

It is somewhat my fault for getting on the topic. I have a dry line that I used for SDSL with Northpoint in the past. I asked him to put on the order that I wanted my new line on that pair. When he heard me say DSL, he immediately assumed that I had a Verizon dialtone on that line in the past. I had to convince him that SDSL is not lineshare like ADSL. He eventually took my word for it and agreed. He probably just wanted to end the call.

Don't even get me going! Oops too late: I signed up for Verizon DSL so early that in my area they hadn't even implemented PPPoE. Therefore I got a Static IP and was loving life. It was installed on a second phone line in my house.

As you can imagine 2 years later I started having connection issues. They had just added my IP to the PPPoE pool and neglected to tell me. So naturally conflicts were abundant.

Disgusted, I wasn't willing to play with Verizon anymore I got Earthlink (who was willing to offer me a static) installed on my primary phone line so I didn't have any downtime. When I had Earthlink working I called Verizon to cancel their DSL service begging them not to disconnect the wrong line. See if you can guess what happened next?

In short They disconnected the wrong service at the C.O. I had an active Earthlink account with no connuctivity - and a Disabled Verizon account with perfect synch. Everytime I called the <first-level-support> checklist techies </first-level-support> I was assured that "that just can't happen" I even went so far as to bang on the door of my local C.O. (No they didn't answer.)

Finally, after two weeks I got a manager who was able to verify that It was their f**k up and that I was right .

And to this day they are still trying to get me to "come home to Verizon."

Sorry, Couldn't help myself.
