Re: Wow. Slow day - 02/03/2003 00:03

Weekends are usually slow around here, seems most people hit the BBS on company time during the week. Thats what the web logs show anyhow.

I for one had fun today driving around all the morrons who couldn't handle snow. The best part was passing some SUV up one of the steeper hills in town. While he was either slowly sgoing up or sliding back down, I went right by him in a Saturn at 20 mph with no problems. Just because you have an SUV dosen't automaticially make you a better driver.

Though I better not dig that set of threads back up

Hehehe.... Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I for one am usually too busy during work to check, so I am always on after hours.

And thankfully the posts slow 'way down on Fridays. (Fridays are the days I have to do three days worth of work; radio stations are a 7-day a week operation!)

And some of us have no access to a computer that is on the internet while at work

Forget the BBS. Go to Bourbon St.

Re: Wow. Slow day - 03/03/2003 09:00

Schitt, I haven't been to Bourbon street in years. Other than for work. Ever been to Mardi Gras? It's completey nuts down there right now. Actually, not RIGHT now, but there'll be more tonight. Check out the Bourbo cam and look at about oh say anywhere between 8:00PM and 5:00 AM any of the three past nights. Non-stop party.

The dude in the baseball cap looks like my mate Kev, but that can't be, he's in Baghdad.

Re: Wow. Slow day - 03/03/2003 13:08

but that can't be, he's in Baghdad.

Which begs the question of which is a more dangerous place to be right now, N'awlins or Baghdad.

Yeah I went Saturday night. It is nuts. Although I wouldn't advise a clausterphobic person to go.
It made my night when I saw the COPS camera crew with a group of undercover cops. I watched as they arrested 2 people for smoking weed. They said it would play in like may or june.

We going to see you in the background when that particular episode comes out?

Two people smoked weed at a huge open air party? Thank god the cameras were there to capture justice, those creeps were funding terrorism!

Well, at least our cameras aren't mounted on streetlamps and monitored remotely...

Re: Wow. Slow day - 04/03/2003 10:25

I find that VERY unusual. They usually only stop people for 2 things during Mardi Gras. Fighting and peeing on the street. The latter only because it leads to the former. I've seen cops walk right by people smoking weed without even a second glance...

Re: Wow. Slow day - 04/03/2003 16:50

They also had some huge NOPD RV's parked downtown that said "Weed and Seed" on them.

I very well may be on that COPS episode because I think at one point the camera man was filming in my direction.

The two images posted previously in this thread sure don't look like pencil sketches

Re: Wow. Slow day - 05/03/2003 14:10

Hehehe... Completely different. Those cameras are run by a bar, not the police.

Re: Wow. Slow day - 05/03/2003 14:29

And CCTV cameras on the streets in the UK are generally not run by the police either.

Re: Wow. Slow day - 05/03/2003 14:37

Hmmm... That surprises me.

Re: Wow. Slow day - 05/03/2003 15:34

Why ? There are few enough police around anyway, they have better things to do than spend their time looking at CCTV cameras. You don't need a policeman's training to operate a CCTV camera...

Re: Wow. Slow day - 05/03/2003 17:32

Well, but are the results flagged and reviewed by police? Or used for police action? I mean, if it's not for use by the police, who's bothering to watch people?

Re: Wow. Slow day - 05/03/2003 17:40

If the operator sees someone doing something they shouldn't be doing they call the police in. Easy really...

Re: Wow. Slow day - 05/03/2003 17:53

Well, the real difference I think we're getting at is that the UK ones are operated for the purpose of law enforecement, and chartered by some level of government, correct? The Bourbon St. pictures are from a bar which probably only has the camera so they can have people "flash the internet" or something of the sort.

Re: Wow. Slow day - 05/03/2003 19:17

Basically, yes. If the police were to monitor these in ANY capacity, it would hit the news real quick!

Re: Wow. Slow day - 26/04/2003 17:24

So it's Saturday April 26th and I'm in the middle of watching COPS in Mardi Gras, have you seen yourself in the background yet d33zy? Most of the arrests have been because of weed. just wondering.

Re: Wow. Slow day - 26/04/2003 21:50

I wonder why everyone's assuming he was in the background.
